"First of all, you have a waterfront that is literally world class, it is that stunningly beautiful. The challenge is, you don't monetize your waterfront and then you got downtown Queen Street..."
Earlier this year, the Downtown Association hired an outside consultant to visit the city and review the downtown area as part of a beautification and economic development initiative.
Coming to the Sault for the very first time, Roger Brooks spent four days touring the Sault and reviewing all that it has to offer. On his last day, he prepared a 3-hour presentation which he shared with downtown business owners and the general public at the Millworks site.
Mr. Brooks outlined 99 Suggestions on how to improve our downtown core - with the majority of them costing less than $30,000.
Some of the downtown development suggestions outlined were:
Updated Tourist Brochures/Maps
Improved Way-Finding Signs
Flower Pots/Decor for Outside Storefront
Changing Queen St to Two-lanes
