World Refugee Day was internationally recognized on June 20th. To welcome those who have come to make the Sault their home, the Downtown Association and Refugee705 partnered together to host a gathering on March Street stage.
“This is our third year. The first year did World Refugee Day for awareness, the second year was about giving back to the community, and this year it’s about celebrating diversity…[S]o that’s why we are here – Refugee705 – for awareness, and to explain, and to help the refugees and community […] it means a lot to us.”
– Dania Kuzbari, Refugee705
There was face painting, an ice cream truck, games and music to mark the occasion! The organizers would like to thank all who came out to attend, as well as those who volunteered for the event. Watch Sootoday’s coverage of the event here.
