2022 Downtown Street Party #2
That’s a wrap for the second Street Party of 2022! We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for a Thursday night Downtown.
Queen Street closed to traffic between Spring and Dennis Street with the festivities kicking off at 5 o’clock. Party goers began moving onto Queen Street eager to see the happenings in the pedestrian only blocks.
The event consisted of evening shopping, street sports, giant games, a vendor market, live entertainment, and other festivities.
The local market was set up in the Elgin to Bruce Block including vendors:
Lucy’s Loft
K&K Krafts
Lil Orbitz Donuts
We’re excited to hear CJ’s Dehydrated Products will soon be joining us on Queen Street at their new storefront location at 518 Queen Street East, September 1st!
STREET SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES!
For the event we invited Soo Area Pickleball and the Sault Ringette Club to join us for street sports on Queen. Along with sports Soo Blaster held a corn hole tournament on the street, Entomica brought mini golf outside Outspoken Brewing, cheerleading demonstrations from 705 Athletics, and giant games in the Bruce-Dennis block. The Street Party is a unique event for local organizations to showcase their vision, sport as well as attract new members! We also secretly wanted to recreate a particular 1995 Nike commercial. ;)
Here are some photos of the activities:
OutSpoken ALLEY PARTY
For the Street Party OutSpoken Brewing hosted an alley party right inside the alleyway where their patio is located. OutSpoken was joined by Savvy Circles 360 Photo Booth, Strong Minds SSM, and Entomica Insectarium! The fully licensed alley also including live music featuring a cavalcade of musicians jamming till Midnight.
ZERO VACANCY PROGRAM LAUNCH & DOWNTOWN RE-USABLE BAGS
Outside the Downtown Association office, staff were providing information about the our new program Zero Vacancy as well as handing out free Downtown re-usable bags.
The Zero Vacancy program is mutually beneficial to both landlords and entrepreneurs. Whether you are a landlord with vacant space or an entrepreneur seeking a brick and mortar location street level, there is minimal risk for both parties. The 30-day rolling lease allows the property owner to provide a space for start ups while having the freedom to continue soliciting long-term tenants at anytime.
